Howard Knytych retired from information technology a couple of years ago, and now has the time to pursue the interest he's had in astronomy since he first looked through a friend's WWII German binoculars at the age of ten. An inveterate visual observer, he enjoys hunting DSOs manually, and the thrill of pushing the limits of what he can detect visually under dark skies with a well-adjusted instrument. He has also been teaching astronomy part time at Concordia University in Portland.
